Arati has provided legal and general education to Victorian communities since 2000, with a particular focus on hard to reach groups and those experiencing disadvantage.
COTA Victoria’s 2017 Policy Priorities Statement outlines four key areas for policy action to enable older people to age well and fully participate in society with respect and dignity: end of life care and decision-making; elder abuse prevention and advocacy; transport and access to services; and affordable, appropriate and secure housing.
COTA Victoria will launch a booklet on 12th of April to assist people who have just lost a partner: What practical things should you do when someone dies? Information for partners and family.
Evidence from community consultations has shown that the financial, legal and administrative processes required after a death are onerous, not standardised and the cause of anxiety and stress in families. Victoria Law Foundation funded COTA to produce a resource for families. The project was led by volunteers Anita Smith and Anne MacBean.
